College Breeds Homelessness

Homelessness is a rising trend in the US with 700K to 2 million people sleeping in the streets on any given night. Our rising population and thanks to the EPA, our limited number of streets, homelessness is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. There are plenty of 'bandaid' approaches to helping the homeless- food services, shelters, clinics, etc, but all these do is sugar coat our homeless friends with feel good deeds and give us a sense of 'doing our part'. In order to fight back against homelessness, we've got to attack its root- universities. These hubs of liberal thought, breeding would be hippies, are ruining America without us even lifting an eyebrow. Just yesterday, I was on my college campus trying to find a quiet place to read. I turned the corner into one of many study rooms on campus and what I saw was shocking. On every couch and padded leather chair there lay a crumpled sleeping body. These students had no shame in taking slumber in one of these public places, druling and snoring like barbarians while they waited for their next class to start. This example was merely one study room out of the hundred or so on my campus out of thousands of campuses nation wide. An epidemic is happening right under our noses as thousands of students accross the nation are being conditioned to sleep in public places with no inhabitions. This is one step in the wrong direction for our up and coming leaders of America. It's time to make a stand...perhaps even time for those right-wing conservatives to homeschool their children all the way through college. I'd rather have a naive and sheltered leader than one who sleeps on park benches.
